This edition of the programme, we will be talking about Prostate cancer, a type of cancer that occurs in the prostate.
The prostate is a small walnut-shaped gland located between the penis and the bladder. Its main function is the production of seminal fluid that nourishes and transports sperm.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer. While some types of prostate cancer grow slowly and may need minimal or even no treatment, other types are aggressive and can spread quickly.
Symptoms of prostate cancer do not usually appear until the prostate is large enough to affect the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the penis. When this happens, you may notice an increased need to pee, straining while you pee, and feeling that your bladder has not fully emptied.
Other symptoms include blood in the urine, blood in the semen, weight loss without trying, and erectile dysfunction.
As prostate cancer usually progresses very slowly, you can live for decades without symptoms or needing treatment.
Nevertheless, being diagnosed with this condition can affect your life.
