World Radio Day, celebrated on February 13, honours radio’s pivotal role in raising awareness and advancing social progress.
Recognized by UNESCO and adopted by the UN General Assembly, the day celebrates radio as a vital medium for international cooperation.
The 2025 theme, “Radio and Climate Change,” emphasizes radio’s role in adapting to and mitigating the effects of climate change, highlighting its ability to inform, educate, and engage communities worldwide.
In commemoration of the day, WADR is partnering with the African Union of Broadcasting to host a media summit on climate change.
