The West Africa Centre for Counter-Extremism (WACCE) has issued a cautionary alert, highlighting the potential for violent extremist factions to manipulate the escalating ethnic tensions in Northern Ghana for acts of terrorist violence.
During a press briefing to introduce WACCE’s latest initiative, the Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism through Social Cohesion in Northern Ghana (BRAVE) project, Mutaru Mumuni Muqthar, the Executive Director of WACCE, indicated that extremist groups possess exploitative capabilities to recruit and carry out attacks by capitalizing on existing vulnerabilities.
