President Adama Barrow of the Gambia together with President Macky of Senegal and Guinea Bissau's President Omar Sisocco Embalo have commissioned the Soma OMVG Electricity Project in Soma Gambia.

The Gambia River Basin Development Organization (OMVG) Electricity Project with its main station in Guinea is a regional energy programme that aims to provide power supply to four countries through interconnections in West Africa namely the Gambia, Senegal, Guinea and Guinea Bissau.

The Soma sub-station valued at 700 million dollars will provide 50% of electricity demand in the Gambia and will also connect over 300 villages.
