A new report released Tuesday by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime revealed that the bulk of firearms trafficked in West Africa is purchased on the continent.

The report cited data suggesting the trafficking of long-range firearms to the Sahel, including by air from France and Turkey through Nigeria.
