The number of out-of-school children is on the increase due to the prevailing insecurity and violent extremism in the Sahel.
Days after it released a report on Burkina Faso’s situation, the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF on Tuesday said children in Mali are paying the heaviest price for the security crisis in the country.
In addition to the fact that they are recruited by the various warring parties because of the closure of schools, UNICEF says they are also the first to die during attacks against civilians.
