The United States Military has completed the withdrawal of its equipment from air base 201 in the Agadez region of Niger on Monday, following their departure from the Niamey air base in July.

This was confirmed in a joint statement from the American and Nigerien military authorities.

According to a press statement from the American military command for Africa (Africom), coordination will continue between the American and Nigerien armed forces in the coming weeks to ensure the total withdrawal is carried out as planned.

The process of withdrawing American soldiers from Niger began on May 19, 2024.

As a reminder, the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Fatherland, CNSP, denounced the agreement relating to the status of military personnel of the United States of America and civilian employees of the United States Department of Defense on the territory of the Republic of Niger.

On May 19, the Nigerien and American military authorities signed an agreement for the definitive withdrawal of American soldiers no later than September 15, 2024.
