A joint communique issued by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization, and Territorial Development, and the Minister of Security and Civil Protection, concerning today’s legislative and regional elections,  the ministers announced the closure of  the land borders of Togo at midnight of Monday, April 29, 2024 which is today to protect the sanctity  of the electoral process

The ministers emphasized the importance of this security measure to optimize the voting process and ensure a peaceful electoral environment. They called upon all users of Togolese borders and the general population to cooperate and demonstrate a sense of responsibility in complying with this directive.

In conclusion the statement said the closure aims to facilitate the smooth and secure conduct of the parliamentary and regional councilor elections, fostering a serene, socially cohesive, and peaceful voting atmosphere.
