Togo’s Government has established the “Summer Agenda for the Diaspora”, which is aimed at supporting Togolese citizens in the diaspora, who are expected to travel to the country during the summer holidays. Through this program, the government will offer administrative and technical services to aid the diasporans carrying out projects, as they are building up economic development of Togo.
There are also plans to launch a census of Togolese abroad and the presentation of a one-stop shop for them.
According to figures released recently, Togolese citizens in the diaspora transfer nearly $500 million to the country annually. In 2020, the funds were estimated at $441 million, which is around CFA 238.3 billion.
In addition to this program, the Togolese government has also set up the High Council of Togolese Abroad and the Single Window of the Diaspora, to facilitate the contribution of its diaspora to the country’s development.
