At least three people have died and four others, including minors, injured in Togo, after the collapse of a five-story building under construction in the Carrefour Sanol Sagbado district of Lome.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday, October 18, 2024, around 5:30 a.m.
According to an official statement, the provisional toll includes three fatalities: two Togolese citizens and one expatriate.
The four injured individuals, which include two children, were promptly evacuated for medical treatment.
The Togolese government has expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
Additionally, the government emphasized the importance of adhering to building regulations, particularly the necessity of obtaining a building permit before commencing construction.
