Tension high in Niger after Monday’s fatal school fire disaster

In Niger, tension is still high in Zinder after a fire disaster that occurred on Monday in a technical college in the city. and a boy, were found burned after the fire, the cause of which has still not been determined.

Eleven others were injured, two of them in critical condition.

Amadou Moctar Hamani, secretary general of the steering committee of the Union of Nigerien Schools said the new tragedy is unacceptable for the union and once again calls on the government to institute the necessary measures in ending this type of disaster.

The committee also demands the opening and conclusions of an investigation into these incidents.

As a reminder, the zero classroom operation in huts was launched by the Nigerien authorities in July 2022, a huge project that the government spokesman says will take time to achieve.
