Hello and welcome to another edition of “Take the Lead’’ on West Africa Democracy Radio 94.9FM in Dakar, Senegal……This is the platform which focuses on the livelihoods of young people on the African continent.
My name is Augustine Kollie and I urge you to stick with us…
Last week’s edition was about The Impact of Artificial intelligence on African Youths, and today, we will be discussing “Regular and irregular Migration by young people in Africa”

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), about 8.4 million migrants, representing 2.8 per cent of the total population, move around West Africa
This is the largest total migrant stock in Africa, and it moves internally, intra-regionally, continentally and internationally.
West Africa also concentrates the highest number of intra-regional migrants and, to a lesser extent, migrants moving towards Northern Africa and Europe.
There are more to about migration during this, but before we continue, let’s listen to a testimony by Abdullahi Rasheed – a Migrant returnee from Ondo State, southeast Nigeria who sold everything he owned from his motorbike business to pursue an employment opportunity in Dubai – the United Arab Emirate.
