A new report says Sub-Saharan Africa is becoming the global epicentre of violent extremism due to a combination of factors.
The report released Tuesday by the United Nations International Development Agency said people in the region are joining violent groups because of economic benefits and less for religious reasons.
Compared to the motivations in a previous report released in 2017, the 2023 report showed a significant increase of 92% of new recruits joined for better livelihoods.
