Late Chadian leader Idris Deby Itno’s body was laid to rest today.
Several heads of state arrived Ndjamena – the capital on Thursday for funeral. They include the presidents of Niger, Mali, Mauritania and Guinea.
While a dozen leaders are attended the farewell ceremony, a growing factionalism is creating uncertainty over the central African nation’s leadership.
Deby who rose to stardom in the battlefield against rebels from Libya, then led a coup against a corrupt leader, died 30 years later fighting militants while protecting his regime and territorial integrity.
