Sierra Leone’s High Court has sentenced two military officers, Alie Badara Kanu and Thaimu Bangura, to 120 years in prison each for treason.
The officers were found guilty of conspiring to overthrow the government and failing to report the plot, violating national security laws.
Prosecutors presented evidence that the duo, along with others, planned the coup between 2023 and 2024 in Freetown.
State Prosecutor Yusuf Isaac Sesay said the case against them was clear and irrefutable.
