Sierra Leone’s Electoral Commission (ECSL) has approved President Julius Maada Bio’s candidacy for the upcoming June general elections, as he seeks a second term.
Along with Bio, the Electoral umpire has also approved the main opposition party’s nominee, Samura Kamara, who was the runner-up in the last presidential vote in 2018.
Kamara lost to Bio, a former military ruler who had previously failed in a presidential bid four years earlier.
James Adjapong has more details.
