A major task by the constitutional council in Senegal later today will shape the political ambition of nearly a hundred presidential candidates in the upcoming February 2024 elections.
As of Thursday evening, seventy out of the 93 candidacy files submitted have been processed by the council before the draw lots begin this Friday.
The remaining 23 files according to reports are awaiting registration.
As Abdullahi Hassan reports, unless there is a withdrawal, the presidential elections could see the participation of 93 candidates – a number above the country’s benchmark.
