Senegal’s Bureau of Financial Investigations and the Fight against Illicit Trafficking seizes counterfeit banknotes worth one billion CFA francs in Cité Almadie, on March 24, 2023.

According to the Senegalese Customs Communication, Office, the four individuals were arrested in the act of trafficking black banknotes, by the intelligence network set up by the Directorate of Customs Investigations.

The counterfeiters were found in possession of a packet of black banknotes carefully wrapped in plastic.

This seizure follows a similar operation on March 18, 2023, in Thiès, where black notes with a counter-value of two billion CFA were seized by BITIS agents.

The Customs Administration has reiterated its commitment to combating organized crime related to illicit financial flows, which poses a significant economic and security threat.

They have called on the collaboration and support of the public in this regard.
