About a dozen opposition leaders have joined forces to challenge the postponement of the presidential election.
During a press briefing held in the capital, Dakar, on Wednesday, several endorsed candidates outlined their intentions to submit a petition to the Supreme Court, condemning the postponement as an institutional coup.
As Oge Obierika reports, civil society representatives perceive this move as an attack on Senegal’s democratic tradition which has witnessed four predominantly peaceful transfers of power through the ballot box since gaining independence from France in 1960.
