The Senegalese political landscape is by the day gaining more attention as the February 25 general elections draw nearer.

This time, the candidacy of Karim Wade, a presidential aspirant appears to be on solid ground, with the confirmation of his renunciation of French nationality published in the ‘Official Journal.’

The resolution comes after a contentious dispute over the dual nationality of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS) candidate, fueled by an opposition politician Theirno Alassane sparking actions from French President Emmanuel Macron.

Karim, son of former President Abdoulaye Wade is among the twenty candidates validated by the constitutional council in the first round of the verification process.
