The Constitutional Council in Senegal is expected to close the verification exercise of sponsorships for presidential candidates today.

The proxies of the various contenders for the presidency have been arriving one after the other since last Saturday.

So far, 9 candidates have succeeded in obtaining the required number of sponsors in the first round while many more still need to complete the process.

Until then, they can only hope to be included on the list of candidates for the February polls.
