With a population of nearly two hundred million people, Nigeria, like many developing countries is struggling to cater to the needs of its citizens despite being the premier economic powerhouse in Africa. More than 10 million children in the country are out of school because of one reason or the other, according to the United Nations children’s agency, UNICEF.

The situation raises doubts about the country’s ability to meet the sustainable development goals, the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.
WADR’s Adolphus Mawolo who is currently in Nigeria on reporting assignment visited a slum community near Abuja and discovered how poverty is ruining the future of a community of over one million inhabitants.
