Plastic bags may seem like a grocery shopping convenience, but they are also a huge strain on the environment.
Most of us use them every day, whether we’re shopping for groceries or the latest fashion trends, you can almost guarantee that you’ll be leaving the store with a plastic bag stuffed full of your new goodies.
But then, when you arrive home, we’re often toss aside the wrapping without giving much thought to it.
Have you ever stopped to consider what happens to those bags? Has it ever occurred to you just how many of them we use, individually, in a year?
It can take up to 500 years for plastic bags to disintegrate, thus they make up a large portion of what stays in our landfills and pollutes our waterways.
International Plastic Bag Free Day was created as a worldwide initiative for the purpose of getting rid of the single-use of plastic bags around the world.
