A report from a Swiss NGO has revealed the clandestine export of a significant quantity of gold between 2013 and 2022, estimated to be around forty tonnes of gold.
On average, 4 tonnes of gold leave Senegalese territory illegally yearly.
According to the document, the clandestine export of gold over the last 10 years has reached significant proportions in Senegal, causing the country to lose several billion CFA francs.
