In Guinea, heads of neighborhoods, sectors, and districts will no longer be elected by citizens at the grassroots level, but instead be appointed by regional governors.
This is according to a decision taken on Wednesday by the President of the Transition Colonel Mamady Doumbouya.
The decision has not gone down well with the political class, with most political players accusing the transitional government of wanting to militarise the neighborhoods and districts to cling to power.
Stakeholders allege a plot to present Colonel Mamady Doumbouya in the next presidential election.
