Convener of the National Peace Committee in Nigeria, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah has charged all political actors to strive for peaceful governance, particularly as the country prepares for its general elections in 2023.
Bishop Kukah gave the charge when candidates of the gubernatorial election in Osun State, South west Nigeria signed a peace accord, a symbolic commitment to democracy.
He tasked all political leaders to eschew violence as it is a fundamental threat to Nigeria’s democracy, calling on civil society organizations, religious groups, and traditional institutions to cooperate in achieving peace at all costs.
