More than 900 educational institutions were compelled to shut down in Niger’s Tillaberi region last May due to escalating insecurity.
Following a supervisory visit to the region, Ibrahim Natatou, the Nigerien Minister of National Education, shared the latest updates.
Among the closed schools, 891 are primary schools, while 30 are secondary schools.
The government Natatou said has taken measures to accommodate some of these students by arranging for their enrollment in schools located in unaffected areas.
