Several dozens of people were reportedly killed in flood disaster in Chad between August 9 and 15, according to a regional official.
Governor of the northwest region, General Mahamat Tochi Chidi said populations of Tibesti province have been affected in recent times by heavy rains causing several damages and loss of human lives.
Tochi Chidi stated that thus far, nearly 6 departments, Bardaï, Zouar, Wour, Aouzou, Zoumri and Emi Koussi, have been affected by this situation, triggering a serious humanitarian crisis.
In response to the situation, the Chadian Minister of Social Action, Solidarity and Humanitarian Affairs, Fatimé Boukar Kossei, has called an emergency meeting.
The meeting aims to find sustainable ways to assist flood victims during this period and put in place several provisions to support the population on several levels.
