An international humanitarian Organization is calling on the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS to expedite the process of easing the sanctions on Niger.

The Norwegian Refugee Council NRC appeals for humanitarian exemption in Niamey, stressing the dire situation vulnerable populations including children, women, refugees and displacement are faced with.

The NGO believes the reopening of borders with the Sahelian to allow for the free movement of food items, medicines and other humanitarian aid will help people already hit by insecurity and the impact of climate change.
