In Senegal, 9 out of 10 workers are paid in cash and are excluded from any health insurance.

That’s according to a new survey conducted by the Senegalese government with the support of the Better Than Cash Alliance (United Nations), the World Bank and the national agency of statistics and demography.

The authors of the survey say this situation offers real opportunities for financial innovation and social inclusion.
