Civil society group M62 has been rallying for the withdrawal of foreign military forces from the country.

The mobilization precedes the impending expiration of the ultimatum given by the ruling military to French forces, urging them to exit Niger. 

The military publicly criticized the defense pacts that existed between Niger and France, following their assumption of power through a coup d’état a month ago,
