Health authorities in Nigeria have commenced a nationwide vaccination campaign against the Human Papilloma HPV virus.
On Tuesday, the Yobe state government in the northeast region kicked off the exercise targeting 350,000 girls between the ages of 9 and 14.
Damaturu now joins the list of states such as Oyo in the southeast region to prevent cervical cancer, improve the well-being of young girls, and promote maternal health.
As WADR’s Usman Umar in Abuja reports, over 7 million girls would have been vaccinated by the end of the nationwide inoculation program.
