Troops of the Nigerian military Tuesday evening repelled an attack by Boko Haram insurgents on a community on the outskirts of the Borno state capital.
Heavy shootings were heard at about 6 p.m. when the insurgents attacked Jiddari Polo neighbourhood of the capital city – Maiduguri.
The attack was the first since Muslims commenced the Ramadan fast 29 days ago.
