The Nigerian Senate deliberated on two bills on Wednesday, proposing to prohibit the Governor of the Central Bank (CBN) and Deputy Governors from engaging in political activities.
This development follows over a year after the APC presidential nomination form was obtained for the former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and precedes the upcoming 2023 general elections.
As Oge Obierika reports, both bills successfully passed a second reading during the upper chamber’s plenary session.
