The Inspector-General of Nigeria Police Force, Mohammed Adamu, has dissolved the controversial sub-unit of the force, the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS).
This followed a nation-wide outrage during which protesters carried placards calling for scrapping of the unit which they accused of extortion, harassment and other forms of human rights violations.
A security analyst has however described the decision scrapping the unit as unfortunate and risky.
