The Nigerian government says plans are underway to address flooding challenges and revitalize the diminishing Lake Chad Basin.

Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal, detailed these initiatives during the 2024 budget defense session with lawmakers at the National Assembly.

Lawal’s presentation outlined multiple measures focused on mitigating the severe impacts of floods and securing the future sustainability of the basin.
