In Nigeria, an undisclosed number of villagers were killed in the north-central state of Niger during an ambush by gunmen over the weekend. Eyewitnesses suggest that there could be numerous casualties, although the exact number is yet to be confirmed due to limited access to the location.

The victims were part of a convoy of food supplies being escorted by the Nigerian military along Pandogari-Allawa Road in the Shiroro local government area of the state.
