Nigeria’s government has banned the importation of subscriber identity module (SIM) cards, as part of efforts to encourage the production of locally made SIMs.¥
Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami revealed this at the Nigerian Telecommunications Indigenous Content Expo (NTICE) organized by the Nigeria Office for Developing Indigenous Telecoms Sector (NODITS) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
Speaking on tracking terrorists nefarious activities through the SIM linkage with the National Identification Number, NIN, Prof Pantami, says security institutions have unhindered access to the NCC's database.
