The Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors has called on the government to provide financial support to the industry to save it from total collapse. This comes as the impact of the coronavirus pandemic continues to bite.

The committee in a communique issued on Monday after a meeting, highlighted the media’s role in providing essential services critical for national development and unity, as reason why it deserves to be treated like other essential services on the frontline of the fight against Covid-19.
