Authorities in Nigeria’s north-central state of Plateau have confirmed at least 30 people killed in a renewed conflict in Mangu town.
The violence this week Wednesday was reported by local sources but with varying accounts of the trigger factor until the Nigerian army in its bi-weekly briefing provided details.
The resurgence of violence in Plateau comes four weeks after the bloody Christmas Eve massacre of 200 villagers including women and children in three communities.
As WADR’s Usman Umar reports, the state has a long history of inter-ethnic, religious and communal conflicts.
