Counting of votes is underway in several parts of Nigeria where voting commenced early in the 2023 general election.
Many polling units across the country experienced delays in the arrival of electoral staff and voting material leading to an extension in time to accommodate voters in the affected locations.
Polls were officially scheduled to close at 13:30 GMT throughout the country but it is unclear how long the extension granted by the electoral commission will last.
