Nineteen travelers, including five personnel from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), died in a tragic auto crash on Tuesday in Hawan Kibo, in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria.

The accident occurred along the Jos-Akwanga Express Road when an 18-passenger Hiace bus, traveling from Yola to Abuja, collided with a stationary articulated vehicle.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the impact was attributed to high speed, resulting in the death of the bus driver and all passengers.

NAF spokesman, Olusola Akinboyewa, confirmed that the personnel were en route to a sporting event when the incident happened.

He stated that support protocols have been activated by the NAF to assist the bereaved families.
