The Republic of Niger has been ranked 109 out of 140 countries globally on observance of rule of law, rising two positions since last year, according to the latest Rule of Law Index rankings released Wednesday. Regionally, Niger rank 18th out of 34 countries in the sub-Saharan Africa region.
Niger's overall score rose by less than 1% in this year's Index. In the region, the best performing country is Rwanda (ranked 42nd out of 140 globally, followed by Mauritius and Namibia. The three countries with the lowest scores in the region are Mauritania, Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
