The third most popular political party in Niger, The National Movement for the Development Society (MNSD) has thrown its weight behind the governing Nigerian Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS-Tarayya) ahead of the second round of the presidential election.
Last week, Niger's Constitutional Court confirmed that a second round of the presidential election will be held on February 21. The court held that no candidate between the ruling party and the Nigerien Democratic Movement for an African Federation who emerged front runners, obtained the 50%+1 votes required
As the February 21 election re run draws nearer, minority political parties are rallying supporters behind the two candidates.
