The Nigerien government on Monday announced a new figure of the number of people killed in Sunday’s attack by suspected jihadists in the country’s west Tahoua region.
The government spokesperson Zakaria Abdourahamane in a statement via state broadcaster said 137 were killed in Sunday’s attack.
This latest attack occurred same day when the constitutional court certified Mohammed Bazoum’s victory in the run-off presidential election of last month.
Bazoum, a cabinet member of the Muhmamadou Issoufou’s presidency – inherits a country plagued by security challenge.
