More than 269 American soldiers out of 946 have already left Niger, following an agreement signed in May 2024 between Washington and Niamey, the two parties announced yesterday Friday in a joint press release published in Niamey.

The latter is present in Niamey as part of a ceremony organized at military base 101 for the departure of other American soldiers. This act marks “the official start of the withdrawal of American military personnel and equipment.”
