Senegal’s Minister of Petroleum and Energy Sophie Gladima says the ongoing oil exploration in the country is expected to produce its first barrel of oil at the end of 2023 or at the beginning of 2024.
Speaking in Dakar, the minister said the first barrel should have been available since last June but there were some unforeseen events which meant that the barrel could not be available as planned.
Mrs Gladima urges the population to see the oil exploration as a blessing to the country and not a curse.
