Nearly two weeks after the deadly confrontations in Senegal, The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights says it deplores the violence that rocked the country and resulted in the loss of lives.
The Rights Office is calling on the Senegalese government to ensure that investigations are prompt, independent and thorough and that anyone found responsible for unjustified or disproportionate use of force is held to account, regardless of their status or political affiliation.
