Human rights actors from across Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for a three-day policy dialogue at the African Union headquarters will brainstorm on influencing changes to protect and include the rights of African citizens within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The Discussions will highlight the importance of a human rights-based approach and involve the Network of African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI) and key stakeholders.
Concerns were raised about the lack of transparency in AfCFTA’s design, processes, and implementation, with a call for greater attention to the human rights implications on citizens’ lives.
