Ghana’s electoral commission has proposed a new Constitutional Instrument, or CI, which would make the Ghana Card the only valid document for voter registration ahead of the 2024 election.
This move is aimed at promoting continuous registration of voters and will allow eligible voters to register at any time at the commission’s district offices.
The chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, briefed Parliament on the proposed constitutional instrument for the next general elections.
However, many Ghanaians who have been unable to access the Ghana Card fear they may be disenfranchised if the law is passed.
